Powder coating is a high-quality and environmentally friendly technique in which an electrostatically charged powder is applied to metal parts and cured in an oven. The result is a strong, smooth, and durable coating that protects against corrosion, wear, and weathering.

HOW DOES POWDER COATING WORK?

From surface to durable finish
in a single closed process.

1. Pre-treatment

Degrease and chemically or mechanically treat the surface to achieve optimal adhesion.

2. Powder application

The electrostatically charged powder is applied evenly using robots and/or a manual gun.

3. Stoving

In the oven, the powder melts and hardens into a strong, durable coating. This process is called stoving.

4. Durable coating

A sleek, decorative finish with excellent protection and a long lifespan, especially with a multi-layer system.

Strong performance, sustainable choice.

Durable and wear-resistant

Powder coatings offer excellent protection against wear, scratches, corrosion, chemicals, and weathering. Anti-graffiti properties are also possible.

Environmentally friendly process

Unlike traditional wet paints, powder coating contains no solvents (VOCs), making it an environmentally conscious choice. Excess powder is recovered via a cyclone system.

Multilayer system possible

For optimal corrosion protection, the powder coating can be applied in multiple layers. An epoxy and/or zinc primer can be chosen for this purpose.

Sleek and even final result

Thanks to the electrostatic application, the coating is evenly distributed over the surface, without drips or runs.

Wide choice of finishes

Powder coating is available in various gloss levels, such as matte, satin, and high gloss. In addition, fine-texture and studded finishes are also possible.

Fast processing

After curing and the cooling process, the product is immediately ready for use without drying times.

LIMITATIONS OF POWDER COATING

Important to know

Suitable for metal surfaces

Powder coating adheres optimally to conductive materials such as metal and is not suitable for wood, plastic, or other non-conductive substrates. ALMAPLAST specializes exclusively in powder coating ferrous and non-ferrous parts.

Not all colors are available by default.

Specific colors, such as RAL Design or NCS shades, are often produced to order. This can result in longer delivery times and higher inventory costs.

Color changes require extra preparation

When changing color, additional cleaning and preparation of the installation are necessary, which may take extra time.
